    Hi,
I've been the (almost) proud owner of a Nokia 7650 for well over a year now, and only have one complaint - - - bluetooth !
I got it for the mini-PDA-like functionality, particularly the extensive phonebook, which is great.
The camera is just a nice-to-have, likewise the polyphonic ringtones and stuff.
The BIG problem is using it with a hands-free kit in the car. You can't ! ! !
It just about manages to xfer data with a PC through bluetooth, but why bother as it has infra-red ?
Since last month, using a hands free in car has become a legal requirement. Before then it was a good idea anyway.
    There's no big socket - like on the 6110, 7110 & 6310 - so I expected it to do voice thru bluetooth . . . No ! :-(
So, I've been hearing good things about the new 6600 and was wondering if it would do what I need:
    Extensive phone book (like 7650),
    Some way of in-car hands-free,
Camera and polyphonic nice to have - but not essential.
    Anyone care to comment ?
    TIA,
    Kevin.

    Morning Kev,

I've just upgraded from the 7650 to the 6600 as far as I can tell it's
basically the updated version of the 7650! The menu layout is basically
    identical,
it has the same style address/contacts book,
it does play poly tunes (however my seems a little quieter than the 7650
    was!?!),
it does have a camera, but also a built in video camera so you can take
    short video clips,
it is bluetooth headphone compatible (I got a Plantronics M3000 from the
    orange shop headset for £45.00)
it also has a better quality battery than the 7650 so it doesn't die after 5
    mins on the phone
the signal strength is the best I've ever had on a mobile
it also comes with a 32mb flash card, so no fear of the memory becoming full
to quickly (you can also buy a 256mb flash card from a computer shop to
    really increase the memory)

So basically I think the 6600 cover all the bases you require! I got my for
£50 at phones4u on an upgrade!

Thanks, mate - just the sort of info I needed !
Seems like I'll be asking Orange for an upgrade soon ;-)
Would the 'flash card' happen to be the same soft of 'Compact Flash' that I use in my Digital Camera ?
    If so, I'm laughing !
    Kevin.

    Kevin,

I'm not sure what type of "flash card" your camera takes, but the memory
card slot in the 6600 is of a standard size and not one designed for/by
Nokia! I'm aware of two sized flash cards (as in physical size, not memory
size) one being 4cm x 3.5cm and the other being 3cm x 2cm! The one in the
6600 is the smaller one, about the size of the top of your thumb!

    Hope this helps,

The card in the 6600 is an MMC card.

Mobile Choice magazine mentions that the phone has 6Mb of internal memory.
The card that comes with the phone is a 32Mb

A quick search on Google Images and you can see a picture of an MMC card
    here....

Yes it is, i just got my 6600 on Orange today (i did & still have a 7650)
As i already had a 128mmc i put that straight into the phone, works fine.
The tone's are louder on the 6600 and the photos are better quality.
If you like the 7650 you will love the 6600.
It will do everything your 7650 did + more & better.

i had the 7650 for a yr and now switched to 6600.
quite comfortable w/ the new phone, as almost every functions in 6600 is an
    upgraded 7650 in some ways.

For ur carkit concern, I had it as well...and now, i m using blue-tooth
handsfree w/ 6600 which solves the problem!

MMC cards are NOT the same as "CompactFlash" .. MMC is like a slightly
larger sim card .. a lot of phones use them .. "CompactFlash" is a much
larger and thicker card used by older cameras and PDAs.

I've read in some forums that the 6600 can take a 256mb (some people even
claim to have 512mb MMC's working), but some it seems some makes/type of
    256mb MMC won't work!

Hopefully this link will point you in the right direction!

Except that it doesn't have the slide-down cover :-) This was my main
    reason for buying a 7650.

Yes i must admit i do miss the slide down keypad, it was so easy for unlocking / locking.
Now i have to press the select key and the * key to lock and unlock and its a lot of messing around.

Its about the only thing i dont like about the 6600 though and as it is better in many other way's im sure i will live with it.
