Has anyone managed to sucessfully get the Mobile Action MA-620 to work on
Windows XP? I previously had this working on my old pc which was running
Win-ME with no probs at all. Since buying a new pc though, nothing but
trouble. I've downloaded the latest driver from MA's website, but still no
luck. The only way I can get the damn thing to work is to only plug the IR
device in when I actually need it. If I leave it plugged in, then Win-XP
won't boot up until I unplug itfrom the USB socket and then reboot the pc.
Once booted up, I can then plug it in and all is fine.
When I installed the driver, there was a message saying that it wasn't
Win-XP digitally signed and may cause problems. I have emailed Mobile
Action, but due to the Christmas break, they have as yet not replied.
Any ideas folks? I can't keep on plugging in and unplugging again when I
want to back up data from my 8310, or send txt messages via the pc keyboard.
Mike.

Re: Win-XP and MA-620 Infra-red device.
I have had various run ins with this.
I have it working fine with XP, then something happens - dunno what it is, i
must install something and it just goes!
My suspicions are Norton AV or Utilities or a "FlashPath" utility that
allows me to read smart media via my floppy drive... (Do you have/run any of
these?)
It currently works for me at the moment (due to a fresh install of windows
recently)
I have reinstalled the MA-620 stuff again - the "unsigned driver" thing
wasn't an issue.
Plus Sygate Firewall has been reinstalled (I originally thought the firewall
had killed it...)
However your troubles sound more like a usb problem... I mean, once my
MA-620 "went" I could never get it back. XP's USB plug and play is a bit of
a donkey at times!
I would suggest a fresh re-install in windows may fix it.
Just to say, I have a dual boot of a small win98 setup with the MA-620 stuff
all set up fine. I rarely use 98 unless I want to play a particular retro
game or the MA-620 goes and I want to zap a file to the phone!!!
Hope this helps.

What motherboard do you have ?
I know of booting problems on XP when USB devices were plugged in
that was only resolved by an updated BIOS i.e. flashing it.
I don't have any such problems but I do own a Syntax aka US PC-Chips
(Cheap as chips) motherboard.
Maybe this is a pointer in the right direction ?
