    Hi,

I'm having problems getting the connection manager to find my 6100 on a
serial cable. I know there is a USB one but I have the serial one and i'd
rather try and make that one work.

Using suite 5 that came with the phone, it says before installation to
install the drivers before the suite if using a cable, where the hell are
they on the disc? i installed the phone as a modem using add hardware wizard
but when you query the phone it says it can't communicate with it. Tried to
install another com port but it wouldn't work!

So how do I get the phone working? (you would think for a £300 phone they
would give you the nokia cable). I had the same problem with my 6310i and
the nomia suite that came with that.

If it makes any difference i'm running Windows XP Pro.

    Thanks

    Mark

    Hi,
you have to get a DKU-5 cable (USB) inorder to work with Nokia Data Suite.
the serial cable only works with third party software for ringtones and
    pictures.

    regards,
    Andy

    Re: 6100 on serial cable...Help

the dku 5 is around £35, the cheaper version between £10 and £15 has given
me problems. the driver did not go in as easy as it could, this may be an xp
issue, i dual boot to 98 and that went and found my phone straight away.
when returning to xp all was ok!! using 3rd party - oxygen. all ok but nokia
suite 5. something not working with this cable as yet, have seen this
problem posted previously. would recomend the full price dku or infared
option available at link for 40 - elsewhere probably cheaper.

Any reason you need the cable? If you get an IR adaptor instead you can use it
with other devices. You might not need it just now, but you never know.
