#1 | | Guest | I've got a US-model 3300 handset (3300B), which includes MP3/AAC
player software. The player works well enough, but I have a question
about it. I have noticed that when I play certain MP3 tracks, the
player software displays a tiny icon towards the bottom of the display
that looks a bit like a globe. (Hard to tell because it's so small.)
Playing other tracks (sampled at the same rate or not), the player
doesn't display the icon. I haven't found a mention of this feature
in the documentation, which I have as a PDF file.
Anyone know what it means? Thanks.

#2 | | Guest | Maybe the track has an embedded weblink.
While playing the track, hit Options and see if there are any menu's like
"go to website" or similar.

I can't answer the question as to what it is, but can confirm that it shows
on the UK model of the phone sometimes too. Would an embedded link, as
suggested by Mark above, survive re-encoding, as I always do to reduce file
sizes? It does, if that's what it is! If it wouldn't, then it isn't! :-)

Depends on whether the software involved in re-encoding maintained the ID3
tags' (comments or website section i guess)? | | | |

OK, after a little experimenting when I noticed it earlier today, there is
indeed a "Music Downloads" option available on the song that shows this
icon, where generally that option is greyed-out (selct 'Options' when the
track is displayed). Goes straight to GPRS, and I didn't care enough to pay
to follow it, but now we know. Mark was right.
