    Hi all,

Has anyone seen the issue of some MMCs in the phone not working with
the USB side of the phone? I have two MMC's here, one Sandisk (around
2 years old) and the 32mb card that was in my SL45. The Sandisk is
64mb. When the Sandisk card is in the phone, it formats etc and is
read fine, but the USB connection won't power up at all, whereas when
the Siemens card is in there, the USB connection powers up and is seen
by XP when the plug is plugged in. I am on firmware 3.30, is there a
later version than this that perhaps solves this issue, or are there
some cards that just won't work with the N-gage USB functionality?

    Thanks,
    Andrew.

    common problem...

make sure the mmc cards are formatted with a fat16 system...
    not a fat32...

if all else fails...get a card reader....transfer the files temporary to
your computer....format using the mmc reader for fat16 if it can do it
otherwise use the ngage to format it, then check it to see if it is fat16

latest firmware for mine is 3.30 too

    cheers

Interestingly the Ngage formatted the card to a fat32 system, so I
will try reformatting using FAT16 and then see if it reads the card in
    the USB reader.

    Thanks,
    Andrew.

I tried the same card formatted to FAT16 and got the same problem, yet
another card formatted to FAT32 worked perfectly, so I am concluding
it is the card not the fs it is formatted with.

    Thanks,
    Andrew.

well on some forums, they say that you have to format it a few times...go
    figure...

but in the end enough formats renders it to fat16...

but again, how an mmc card gets stuffed is weird...

    cheers

Well...you might want to stuff it FULL with MP3s then formatting it.
    Sometimes this method works great
