In essence, you get two configurable items-- one = "blacklist", the
other = "accept only list". You set up "rules", each containing one or
more contacts/groups. I set up a rule under blacklist, using the
preinstalled "Unknown"-- kills anything without the caller ID showing.
I also created a new contact, with last name Number, and first name
Wrong. As misdialed numbers come n, I add the number to contact Wrong
Number. "Person" Wrong Number is combined with "Unknown" in my
"blacklist" rule. Through that rule, when such a call comes in, the
3650 does not ring, and the caller always gets a busy signal. A log
keeps track of all such blocked callers, plus the front screen of the
app gives me the number of blocked calls to date, until I clear the
log.
Special note, i.e., "Learned the Hard Way">> Be SURE to distinguish
between name and numbers when dealing with the accept only list. I
added a number, but the contact had several. When he called from a
non-default number, his call was blocked. Therefore, for the accept
only list, where your contact has multiple numbers listed, add
"person", NOT "number". That way, so long as the contact is dialing
from any of the numbers you've listed in the associated contact card,
that person will get through to you. But be aware-- this can be tricky
where folks are calling from work, which typically includes access to
multiple consecutive numbers, i.e., 215-555-1200, 215-555-1201,
215-555-1202, etc. (To my knowledge, there's no wildcard feature to be
tapped here.)
Great app nonetheless! Light footprint! :-)
