Cell Phone Users, SUV's and Brain Damage...No kidding

You know those annoying cell phone users who insist on yakking on the
phone in the supermarket, video store, public transportation, the
theater, library, doctor's office, jet airliner, mall, et. al. The
lives of these cell phone users are so important that society at large
needs to be informed of every nauseating detail of the their pathetic
existence.

Even more disturbing are the dolts in SUV behemoths oblivious to their
surroundings yakking away putting everyone else's life in danger. And
_no_, 'hands free' is just as distracting. Would you have your
physician perform surgery on yourself while talking on the phone? No?
Too dangerous? Then why since upwards of 50,000 people die on American
highways do you feel the need to yak on the phone in your ill-handling,
slow braking, high center of gravity, no crush zone, gas guzzling,
Islamic kook supporting SUV?

Ever wonder if the average compulsive cell phone user isn't quite right
in the head? Something beyond cultural rudeness, childhood trauma or
trendoids engaging in social masturbation? Wonder no more:

http://www.kurzweilai.net/news/frame...html?id%3D2832

So the next time some cartoony SUV with an idiot yakking on the phone
puts my life in danger with an unsafe lane change or tailgating I'll no
longer feel the need to open my window and yell "Whatta ya got ****ing
brain damage or something?!". 'Cause I'll take comfort knowing you'll
someday be in an 'assisted living center' dressed in a bib and a pair of
adult diapers.

Anyone tailgating with a 3 ton SUV while yakking on a cell phone is a
deadly psychopath. Toss a handful of marbles back at them.

What about the people talking on cell phones while driving compact cars.

When I am driving my 1 ton van (9500 GVW) I have had more than one
jump out in front of me from a side road, or cut me off from another lane.
Good thing the van has good breaks, or they would be a complete new meaning
to
the term "compact car."

I would call those people more suicidal than anything else.

What's even worse are these amateur radio operators trying to talk on their
radios while they drive...

While he/she probably isn't on the phone, if you think your surgeon isn't
having a conversation with others, on a subject TOTALLY unrelated to your
surgery, you're as dumb as the people you insult.

On a serious note.
I will refrain from placing judgment on it.
The damage they are showing, looks like damage you would
See from current nodes in the brain.
(ie) Locations that the current flow is concentrated.
That will only happen if a half wavelength of the signal is
About the same as the size of the features in the brain.

The possibility of the brain acting like an antenna at higher
Frequencies has always been a possibility.
But no one really knows the power level that it takes to cause
Sufficient heating for permanent damage.

But personally, I have a radiation shield between me an the antenna.
It's called a car top!
I have never seen the logic in operating a radio device in a steel box.
It has always seemed natural to put the antenna on the outside of the box.
Irrelevant of the question on brain damage.

But at least amateur radio users are usually more aware when either
operating mobile or talking to a mobile station of the inherent dangers.
The average idiot on the other end of a phone hasn't usually got a clue.
Simplex PTT operation is better suited to mobile operation anyway IMHO as
the mobile user can simply cut transmission if necessary.

amateur radio)

Yes, talking on a 2meter rig, or other radio even a cb can be distracting.
But I don't think it is worse than cell phones.
It depends on how you use the radio.

If you keep the microphone in the hand all the time
and keep it up to your mouth all the time, then you
are just as dangerous as a cell phone user.
You are totally removing the use of that hand.
And you are probably paying to much attention to the conversation.

If you set the microphone down between times you talk.
then you are a moderate bit safer.

Like many truck drivers on the highway.
They tie the mic cord up to the middle of the cab ceiling.
It just hangs down beside them.
If they want to take a quick yell, then they just grab the mic
and say something.
They can rid themselves of it at a moments notice, by just letting go of it.
Then they have use of both hands again.

But some of the mobile ham operators that talk a lot, use headsets with vox.
They retain use of both hands.
They would be as safe as a hands free cell phone user.

But there is always the boneheads.
Like when I was listening to the local repeater.
One was mobile, and right in the middle of the conversation,
He goes "I will get back to you in a minute, I just hit someone."

I don't think I'am going to drive anymore now that everyone else has a
excuse for their bad driving, what happened to "the devil made me do it".

(disclaimer: The following is for entertainment value only!
Nothing serious is implied by the writer, or other terrain government,
And extraterrestrial governing organizations.)

Hmmmm.. I just had a neat idea. :-)

Everyone always talks about getting the cell phone bug.
You can use a cell phone for years, but you never use it much.
And it is never that important to you.

But after you start using it a moderate amount,
you get this "bug" and you can never set the phone down.
You have to have it, or you will go crazy.

And a drug is something that induces an effect in the brain
that causes you to want more of the drug.
Sometimes the action of the drug on the brain will cause damage to it.

The cellular/PCS frequency waves may be activating
certain parts of the brain by abnormally heating key areas.
It may be almost like a drug.
If you operate the phone long enough, you get your high.
It would cause impaired judgment while operating the phone.
And possible impaired judgment a moderate amount of time afterwards.

The effects may not be noticeable externally,
but your brain grows a liking to the new stimulus.

And once it grows addicted to the stimulus,
it will be unable to function without it.

Hey, I just figured out why those idiots can't put the dang phone down. :-)

Yeah, it seems like they are always having to fiddle with their box while
they talk.
