According to something I found on the net the nokia can be programmed to
pick up radar speed traps and when programmed the cell phone picks up the
radar and alerts you on the message alert tone. Can anyone confirm if this
works? does it cost anything (to me)? and does it harm the phone?

    Instructions are:

    Enter menu
    Select settings
    select security settings
    select closed user group
    select on
    enter 00000
    Press ok
Clear back to normal and within a few seconds your phone will display a
radar sign with five zero's next to it. It is now activated

Yup, works fine, so long as you've activated the inbuilt tea making facility
by microwaving your phone for at least 2 hours!

As with this comment, don't believe everything you read, and apply a bit of
    common sense.

Trust me Nick. The latest NOKIA models are also 100% waterproof to 100m!!!
Just throw it the crapper, leave it there for a couple of minutes* and then
take it out! Oh, I love NOKIA, it's always in the vanguard!

*you can also call it to hear the sound in water amplified. Oh, it scares
fish so don't try it next to your goldfish...

    Re: Radar Trap On Nokia?

Dude, this is not a radar trap though. It's a service (actually a database)
where all UK's road cameras are registered and it warns you if you
subscribe. But you also need a GPS module. :-/

    It doesn't use an inherent
"electromagnetic receiver" mechanish, as Nick implied.

I got a very strange look in my local camera shop when I asked if any of
their cameras could make phone calls ;-))

And the GPS module, bluetooth, will cost you nearly 300 quid. That aside,
the coffee making facility on my 6310i doesn't seem to work, so maybe a
software upgrade is needed? Having said that, it does make lovely toast if
you lie it lenghtways across a slice of fresh bread...mmmmm!!! Happy
    motoring!!!

    Cheers,

My last bluetooth GPS receiver cost around 150GBP, or you can get the
    Fortuna GPSmart for nearer 120GBP.

I don't know about that but I can tell you that some sprint phones set off
my Valentine Radar Detector. Confirmed to be a problem by the manufacturer.
