What sort of sheet ? A Java or Symbian one ? Because that's what the 6600
    needs.

As the 6600 is a Symbian based handset, you need a spreadsheet to
suit this platform. What is the Siemens sheet based on ? If it ain't
Symbian then you got no chance.

All you need to install the app, is Nokia PC Suite (this should have come
with the 6600 on a CD-ROM), and some means of connecting the phone to the
PC, either a cable, or via a wireless connection (IrDA/infrared or
Bluetooth). Do your computer have IrDA/infrared or Bluetooth ?

The files you have to send/install to the phone are the ones with extensions
..sis .jad. .jar. and you use pc suite to install them. It is very easy and
simple. You have also the instructions on the cd rom

OK get your 6600 connected to the PC somehow (cable, IrDA or Bluetooth),
and use the 'Nokia Application Installer' to send them to the phone. The
Nokia Application Installer tool is part of the Nokia PC Suite.

I've tried to send .app files to my phone but unsuccessfully, it gives me a
message something like it cannot open the file for security reasons (?!),
although I've heard that the .app files contain broken codes and have to be
installed over the already installed .sis file for those applications that
are originally to buy but someone broke the code. Maybe I've understood
    something wrong, don't know

    On Tue, 24 Feb 2004 11:22:38 +0100, "Benjo" <[email protected]> wrote some
stuff about "Re: spreadsheet for nokia 6600", to which I would like to add the
    following:

    >> I've tried to send .app files to my phone but unsuccessfully, it gives me

    >> although I've heard that the .app files contain broken codes and have to

    No, it's like this:

A .sis file contains all the files that are part of the application. Among
these is at least one .app file, which is the main executable file (similar to
a .exe file in Windows). Now if you are determined not to pay for software,
you can download a 'patched' .app file that does not contain the code anymore
that checks if you registered (paid) or not. So typically what you have to do
is use the Nokia PC Suite to send the .app file to any folder on the phone
(because like you mentioned you cannot just send it to your inbox), and then
use a 3rd party file manager (like SeleQ) to move the .app file from the
folder where you sent it to in place of the original .app file that was
installed somewhere in some folder of your phone. This beacause with Nokia
PC Suite you can only reach some folders, like those for your pictures and
sounds, not system folders or application folders.

Or just pay for your software.

    Cheers,
    Chanchao
