MMS sending pics to phone

I thought with all this MMS stuff the pictures actually got sent to
your hand set. I have a 6100 and its set up for MMS everytime I get a
MMS sent to me its a website link to view it. Why is this happening?
My friends are having the same problem.

its cheaper for the operator to send you a link than send you the MMS. they
are ripping you off in other words

Optus in Australia, but I know people on Telstra are saying the same
thing
