.wav files for Nokia 6600

I've tried using .wav files on my 6600 but they play loud and distorted.
Does anyone know how I can correct this?
Should I be saving the files to a certain quality?

its a free tool to convert sounds and video to play on your phone. you just
need to sign up to the developer forum to download it

however the sound quality is bad.
The SW is supplied with the phone. Search the CD.
