Just discovered that if you use an MP3 file as a ringtone and select a profile such as silent where the phone will vibrate and stay silent. It will not stay silent. by that i mean you will hear the mp3 playing. there is no way to silence it.

Please confirm that I am correct or please tell me what i am doing wrong in the profile setting. will all other ring tone formats selecting silent keeps the ringtone silent.

    cheers

Just to add: I even set it with message alert off in order to get the music note icon with the slash through it(to indicate completely silent) and still get the sounds of the mp3 file coming through. if i use a midi file. it correctly silences it.

What about using NONE in the silent profile?

    >ringing volume: level 3

Hm, I might be wrong. But as long es you set a volume level higher
then 0, the tone will be heard.

you've changed your silent profile haven't you?
    my ringing volume is 1
    keypad tones: off
    message alert tone: off
    vibrating alert: off
its hardly silent if you've told it to alert you to text messages?

you could always unmark 'alert for all calls'

Hey Joe, tried it your way and yes it works like that.
However try this: use the settings you described, both for an mp3 tone and a normal tone. The result will be as you described. Now put the vibrate alert on (with everything else unchanged) and see what happens. With a normal tone it will still stay silent. With an MP3 it will be heard. Vibrate shouldnt affect it this way.
    Definately a software issue.
    Please confirm.
