Just got a 6820 - nice change from my old 6360.

Will the new PC Suite use bluetooth to communicate with my 6820, or
must it be a serial/USB/IR port only? I'm waiting for the bluetooth
dongle to arrive before I install PC Suite.

The only version I had previous experience with was the old one for my
old 6360 (TDMA phone), and it didn't like WinXP and preferred the data
    cable to IR port.

In case, if your bluetooth dongle is based on WidCom drivers, we can
recommend much more convenient software: Oxygen Phone Manager II (
    http://www.opm-2.com/).
You can manager your phonebook, calendar, To-Do list, SMS messages,
WAP settings and bookmarks, GPRS settings and access points, set your
own logos and polyphonic tones, using our program. If you will have
any questions, concerning our program's functionality, feel free to
ask them on our public forum: http://www.opm-2.com/forum .

Re: 6820 - can I use bluetooth to my PC for PC Suite?

I'm waiting for the bluetooth dongle for my laptop to arrive.
Meanwhile I decided to try the IR port. It sucks in a major way. I'm
not sure if the problem is the IR in the phone or the IR dongle for my
Dell laptop. The IR communicates OK with my Palm, but it is very
spotty with the 6820. I did install PC Suite, and I'll stick with it,
notwithstanding the spottyness of the connectivity issue.

by spotty do you mean it intermittenlty cuts out now and then? it may
be that you need to lower the speed to 115200.

Yes, it is true: InfraRed connection is a bit slow- only 115200 bit/s.
In case if you have IR at lower speed ( 9600 bit/s, for example), you
can increase it in 'My computer' -> 'Control panel' -> 'Wireless link'
-> 'Hardware' -> 'Properties' -> 'Advanced' -> 'Maximum connect rate'
or 'Speed enable' (option name depends on driver version.
Unfortunately, Nokia mobile phones don't support speeds higher than
115200 bit/s (115,2 kbit/s) for infrared data transfer due to
    limitations of mobile technology.

Bluetooth device in this case has only sensless one disadvantage: it
is a bit complicated to set Bluetooth interface.

Re: 6820 - can I use bluetooth to my PC for PC Suite?

I had hell and all trouble connecting my 6820 via an IR dongle.. it refused
to stay connected in XP and worked slightly better in W98.

I've now solved it by changing the settings on the IR dongle (Control Panel,
Wireless Link, Hardware, Properties, Advanced) and changed the IR
Transceiver type to SigmaTel 4000 and now all my Nokia IR software
(Including MobiMB Mobile Browser, which is great) as well as the Nokia
    suite, work perfectly.

    Hope this helps

    D

PS I've killfiled Oxygen Software. I'm sure we're all grown up enough to
make our own decisions without advertising rammed down our necks.
