it was bought from the orange shop brand new on payg. I think with tft
monitors it has to have 4 or 5 dead pixels before it is classed as
    faulty.

Yes, but there are far more pixels on a 15 inch monitor than a Nokia 6600.

Some manufacturers have different tolerances for different sizes. I would
say it depends where the pixel is.

Switzerland - Zurich, Nokia service - one pixel dead - replaced with new
6600. (But I had to wait 3 weeks).

Re: 2 dead pixels on 6600

    Dot defects (acceptable limits)
Coloured dots shall be no more than two
Total amount of coloured dot + black dot defects shall be no more than four
    a) Distance of dots

No two dot defects shall be within 5 mm distance from each other.

    a) Connected dot defect:

No three dots shall be joined together

    a) Blinking dot defect:

Notice: Dot = Red or Green or Blue 'Dot'

Blinking dot is a dot defect that makes dot 'blink'

    A. Any blinking dot is to be considered as a defect and the tolerance is
    0 (zero) defects

    B. Blinking dot can "appear" and "disappear" some times. Tolerance is
still 0 if found in examinations
