    Hi Everybody.

I have some strange problems making a connection between my PC
(windows XP pro) and my nokia 6610i. I have an infrared USB device,
and I have tried using both Nokia PC suite 5.1 and 6.2, with no
success. With my old 8210 there was no connection problems whatsoever,
so when I decided to get a new phone, I backed up my phonebook and
other stuff to my PC. But now I can't seem to connect to my new phone.

The Nokia PC suite 5.1 will recognize my phone, but refuses to
connect, and the 6.2 won't even reckognize my phone at all. Other
programs, like the Oxygen Phone manager 2 have no trouble connecting
to my phone, but the saved nokia phonebook (.ncc) is not compatible
for import into the Oxygen manager, so I am at a loss about what to
    do.

Dows anybody know why the 6610i is so difficult to communicate with?
Are there alternate programs that can read the nokia .ncc format, and
transfer them to my phone, or are there phonebook converters (like
..ncc to .pb2) that will work?

    Thanx in advance

    Re: 6610i IR connection problems

    Go to <Control Panel / Wireless Link / Hardware / Properties /
Advanced> and changed the IR Transceiver type to SigmaTel 4000. Also
reduce the / Speed Enable / to 115,000

Thanx for your reply. However, I have no entry for "IR tranceiver
    type" in my <Control Panel/Wireless Link/Hardware/Properties/Advanced>
pane... only an entry for "Maximum Connection Speed".

I use an USB IR device called 'MobileAction MA-620 IR adapter', and
their driver is NOT digitally signed for Windows - however, as I
mentioned I had no problems back when using it with my old Nokia 8210
phone, so I didn't expect it to be a problem now. I even updated the
    MA-620 driver.

There are other issues also, however. If I connect the phone, and then
try to start Nokia Contacts editor, I get the error message 'Error
while opening file Nokavcard.dll' . If I try to run the Nokia Content
Copier, it tells me 'no Supported phone connected' and even when I try
to click the 'Select a phone' button, nothing happens. If I try the
Nokia Phone Editor, I get the error message 'Phonebook: Adapterwrapper
    init failed' .

I feel something might be wrong with the software, but everytime I
have installed it, the installation runs fine. Just the same problems
whenever I try the above things.

Anyhoo, thanx for you suggestion - I guess I should try contacting
Nokia for a solution at this point.
