So I decided to buy an USB Data Cable for Nokia 3100. I just need to know if
I also need to buy some sort of a software for it (if yes, what kind of
software) or will I get it with the cable?

Just download the PC Suite 5.17 from Nokia website...

If you're buying the official cable by Nokia, just use PC suite which is a
free (if large) download. If you're buying a third party cable, ensure it
is fully compatible with the Nokia cable & PC Suite as there are shed loads
of copied cables (DKU-5) that don't work properly.
