Does any one got comprehensive list of codes like
*#0000# for nokia cell phones ?!
What was the idea behind providing such obscure codes ?!
May be they could have provided all these info some where under Phone/Settings menu.
Other handset makers follow similar coding ?!

There aren't that many codes specific to Nokia. To get the current
firmware version most modern Nokias use *#0000# but older ones often
use the four digit model number *#[model number]# or *#9999#. The
only other major code is the PUK which varies by SIM or the SIM
"subsidy" unlock code e.g. *pw.........#

Why do you that the codes are obscure? They're there for a specific
purpose.

Why? They're so seldom used and would only provide a way for the
casual user to get into trouble messing with things that they don't
need to be messing with.

Goto Google or other reputable search engine and type in (exactly as you see
it) "*#0000#" nokia. Yes, include the quotes as well.

I don't know about others, but that doesn't work in Google - #'s are
mysteriously deleted.

Not when I tried it the first time, or just now either.

OK, not mysteriously deleted, mysteriously ignored. :-) You'd get the same
result simply using "0000".
