Hi,
I am a 6600 newbie so am sorry if this question has been asked before.
Is there a way to set things up so that the 6600 appears under my
computer? It would be cool to be able to access data on the phone using
standard windows techiques as opposed to having to use the pc suite
wizards.
Also, if anyone can suggest some good web sites with tips and faqs, that
would be much appreciated as well.
Thanks,
--Al

Any minute now the guy from Oxygen Software will try to sell you his
alternative PC suite. Apart from that AFAIK there is no way to do
exactly what you ask. It is possible to send docs to the 6600 without
PC Suite (using BT File Transfer) but getting them off it is a lot
harder.
For a very good factsheet and FAQ see

In fact that site is a great resource for numerous mobiles.

Re: 6600 as a drive on my computer?
I use infared to transfer data between my pc and the 6600. Once that my infared
session 'connects,' an Explorer-type application starts and I can move files
around here and there.
I don't THINK it has visibility to all file types on the camera. (I am
recalling this away from my home pc. Sorry.)

On the Nokia 7250, installing PC Suite also comes with a special folder
Phone Browser in My Computer. Whenever I connect by infrared, I can open My
Computer and then drill down to the Gallery folder on the 7250. Hence no
need to start PC Suite. In fact, if I remember correctly, there is nothing
in the PC Suite that will allow me to transfer files.
Wonder if there is something similar on the 6600.

not as far as I can tell I can send and receive files through a windows
wizard, but only pc suite will allow me to browse file and picture folders
on the phone, but not system files and folders

It was first discovered on a space mission flight that a frog could throw
up. First it throws up its stomach, uses its forearms to dig out the food
and then swallows it stomach back down.

Hi All,
I have actually just found a pretty nice solution to this one! The
utility is called Pc File Manager from Epocware.
YOu can download an evaluation from:
http://www.epocware.com/download/Nokia_6600.html
Enjoy, I know I will.

I've not used this, but this seems to be what you are looking for:

I'd be interested to know what you think, if you try it out.

I bought one of those Widcomm dongle's and works fine..Look for the "OBEX
file exchanger"sub-directory (displays your phone's contents including
system files) in that very same directory..
