I've never found any way to see the date and time of SMS
messages on my 6360. It may just be sloppy programming
of the firmware.

The timestamp shows the time of sending as far as I am aware. Are you
looking for something more accurate which takes delivery delays into
account?

And if the sms is from a different time zone, it shows the time sent from
that zone, not your local time IIRC.

Right. I think the time comes from the sending SMSC, not the sending
phone.

You can view SMS arrival date and time using Oxygen Phone Manager II (
http://www.opm-2.com/ ). Using our program, you can also send SMS
messages from your PC directly, export messages to MS Word, MS Excel
or HTML format in single file, create new messages and save them in
drafts folder. We support all popular types of SMS messages: plain GSM
or Unicode text, logos, picture messages, monophonic ringtone
messages. Also our program supports MMS messages reading, uploads and
creation.
If you have any questions and/or suggestions, concerning our
program, feel free to post them on our official forum

Re: 6230: time of arrival of sms
When the SMSC attempts to send the message to the handset the current
time of the SMSC is included as a timestamp and adjusted to the handsets
current timezone.

That doesn't seem to tally with what I'm seeing. If I receive an SMS
from an overseas phone, the timestamp shown is the local time in the
sending country.

You can view SMS arrival time and date even with free trial license
(i.e., free of any registration fee). You can download *free* trial
for common Oxygen Phone Manager II here:
http://www.opm-2.com/download/opm2.zip and free trial for Oxygen Phone
Manager for Symbian Based phones here:
http://www.opm-2.com/download/symbianopm.zip
With free trial you can not only read, but also send SMS messages
(with advertising text in it, however). I.e., reading date and time
for incoming SMS messages isn't anyhow limited in trial license.
If you have any questions and/or suggestions, concerning our
program, feel free to post them on our official forum

Where can I find the timestamp? I cannot find anyway to see the
date/time an SMS is received nor sent. When i use Mobius Phone
Explorer I CAN see the info, so it must be there.
Please tell me how to ....

Just scroll down past the end of the text of the message. It appears
there on every Nokia phone I've ever owned.

Well, you're right. Thanks.
I've just used Nokia for 7 years, never noticed that ...

LOL! "Simply buy our product, plug your phone into your PC, wait a
while, and you can see when the SMS was sent"! Sounds like the
perfect solution!
