whats the limits on these damn picture messages??

How do I find out, or can some kind soul tell me, what are the file
size limits with the various UK networks for MMS sending?

Also, what is the deal with the MMS messages that never get through?
How can I check who is at fault (sender network provider or receiver
provider) to complain to?

I can see no damn reason why an MMS message should just vanish into
digital space without a trace, other than on your bill.

The provider websites, as far as I can see, are only interested in
telling you how to spend money wasting your time trying to send MMS
and don't give you any other useful info.

Example gripe:
I send a picture from my fone on O2 to a Vodafone. It starts out 40Kb,
ends up at the vodafone at 30Kb.
The same vodafone sends me a pic at 70Kb, lands at my fone still at
70Kb.
Which end is to blame for the 40 to 30Kb shrinking?

Some phones might do some file compression before sending the picture.
I know my Nokia 6230 has an option to 'Scale Image Down' before sending it
which means the file/picture is smaller when it arrives at the other end.

Yes agreed.
I checked mine was set not to do so, and also checked the filesize in
the sent items, just to be sure.
