I just received a Nokia 3300 from the Phillipines. It is made in Findland
and the instructions are written in everything but English. I put my sim
card in but I cannot call out or recieve calls. Other than that the phone
seems to be working. Any ideas or solutions? Cingular is so touchy about
helping if you don't purchase from them. The fact that the phone is from
another country makes it a bit more difficult to ask local companies for
help too. I was told the phone could be locked and I could purchase
unlocking software to deal with it. Any other ideas are welcome. Thanks

You don't say where you are. (USA???)

If you are in the USA I think that that phone is just 900/1800 and is not
compatible with the 800/1900 that we use here in the states.

Thanks John, that bit of information is useful. I am in the USA and I
really did'nt pay attention to the band #'s. I thought those #'s were the
same all over. 900/1800 could be what was printed on the box. I have to go
home and check after work. Thanks again.

    Hi Andy,
Im in the netherlands and when we get a phone from th ephone copagny we run
most of the time to a small shop that is capable to unlock. The most
providers do lock the phone so you need to use their service.
    Suc6.

    Re: Nokia 3300

    Thank you Pieter,
I just went to the Nokia USA site and saw that the specs for Nokia 3300 are
850/1900. Then I went to the Asia/Pacific site and saw that the specs are
900/1800, therefore I think that is where my problems are. Thanks again.

Yup, if your 3300 came from the Philippes it will be useless in the USA.
Regardless, you should be able to unlock it here:
    http://www.nokiafx.net/unlock.htm

But from the sounds of it, your 3300 is unlocked already.
