GSM SIM card memory locations using a NOKIA 5100 phone

I am trying to program a GSM based machine-to-machine device. I am
supposed to "remove all phone numbers from the SIM card" as well as
all received text messages. I deleted everything in the phone book
and all text messages (sent, received, archived, etc).
Next I am told "store at least one phone number into the SIM card" and
I stored in the phone book one number without the name (and I verified
that the number is on the SIM and not in the phone's memory.

Next "store four SMS-messages to SIM card's 'own text messages'
memory". I think I have not succeeded with this. I am using 2
phones, and by switchin gthe SIM card between the phones the only way
I managed to store SMS messages on the card was by sending SMS
messages to the phone.

I have not been successfull in finding information on "SIM card memory
locations". Any help in finding some relevant information would be
great appreciated. TIA

Pelle

Does the phone have an "outbox" or "Saved messages" entry in the messaging
menu?

Re: GSM SIM card memory locations using a NOKIA 5100 phone

Mike,

I did some experimenting by switching the SIM between two different
phones in order to see which messages follow me on the SIM from one
phoneto another. Here are the results (and the answer to your
question):
under text messages it has Inbox (stored on SIM), Sent Items (stored
on phone), Archive (stored on phone), Templates (stored on phone), My
Folders (stored on phone), and Distribution Lists.
