When I try to use the backup feature of the Nokia PC suite using
a bluetooth connection from my PC I get the following problems.

If I cant see the phone listed as connected,
I can either establish the connection from the PC,
or else from the phone (the pc is listed in paired devices).
Once I establish the connection both ends notify me,
but the connection drops again after a few seconds,
so I dont get time to complete the backup.

I've not had any other problems sending files to or from my
phone using the bluetooth, just using the nokia pc suite for backups.

Any ideas anyone? Is there a way to make the connection permanent until
    I manually disconnect it?

Did you get anywhere with this problem? I have had the same problem
with my 6820. PC Suite works with Infrared but not Bluetooth. GPRS
Modem works with Bluetooth (albeit it sometimes needs some TLC). Also I
can't use GPRS with infrared (but this does not bother me).

I contacted Nokia support. They were initially very helpful. Latterly
they stopped responding to my queries. I think this occurred when they
realised that the problem was with their software and not my system /
    installation!

Re: Bluetooth on Nokia 6820 - Nokia PC Suite problem

    Hi,

I can use BT and PC Suite together for backup, sync and whatever... BUT
I have to use PC Suite version 5.8 (i.e. the one I got on the CD with
the phone): if I try & install the latest one, 6.41 I think, then BT
    does not work.

    Here is what I do:

    1) I explore the "Entire BT Neighborhood" and find my phone
    2) I right-click on the phone and I select "Connect Nokia PC Suite";
the PC tells me that it will use BT serial port COM4
    3) then I right-click on the icon (bottom right) of PC Suite (a phone)
and select "Connection Manager"; a window opens and I click on the
    light blue sort of diamond;
    4) I select Communications port COM4 from the drop-down menu (see point
2: you might have a different COM port indicated, just match it)
and click Connect; the phone model appears in the window and then
whichver PC Suite application I open, it is BT-connected.

    Hope that helps,
    Stefano

I haven't used bluetooth much but I find my device a bit flaky with winxp.
It seems if I pull out the dongle and reconnect it the connection is
    better made.
