Nokia data cable DKU5 will not install using OS Windows XP sp2.
Anyone else have this problem installing drivers for Nokia phones under
    Microsoft's service pack 2?

Well, first I installed the driver on the CD, then the most recent
driver from Nokia's web site. Note I have installed this driver
successfully on a PC with Windows XP sp1. But never on a PC with sp2.
Any suggesstions or thoughts on what to do?
    Thanks

The phone wasn't connected to the computer when installing the driver,
right? Because it won't work if it was, according to nokia.

Re: Nokia data cable and Windows XP sp2 problems.

I've installed the DKU-5 data cable on xp sp2 with no problems once I
knew the proper procedure after talking with Nokia Customer Support
directly. I've found going to Nokia got my questions answered better
than trying to get help from my cell provider, who was completely
    clueless.

My only gripe with Nokia is the installation cd that came with the
cable only includes the device drivers for the actual DKU-5 data cable
and the Port 1 on Nokia Adapter virtual com port. The simple user
guide is very vague on the fact you have to download seperately (with a
seperate type of internet connection) the pc suite program from Nokia
(contains the actual modem drivers) before you can complete the
installation. Another thing I found interesting is the phones aren't
Plug-and-Play when you attach them to the data cable. You have to
manually choose the modem drivers from the Add Modem list in Modem
Settings in the Control Panel after you install the pc suite program.
Nokia decided with all the new cell phones coming out it was cheaper
for them to just to make everyone download a master driver file
(included in pc suite) instead of having to constantly update the cds
packaged in with the data cables they sold.
