I've bought a Nokia 6820 from USA, it used to be on the cingular network
    but its been unlocked.

The thing I can't understand is Vodafone here in New Zealand have a GSM
network. I put my exist SIM card in the phone but it comes up with no
network coverage (my existing phone, Nokia 6610, shows coverage).

If I go right into the inner city the phone shows up the network. What
am I doing wrong with this phone?

    TIA.

According to the Nokia website the 6820 is a GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz
phone.Vodafone New Zealand uses a GSM 900MHz network (like most of the
    world).

    I'm happily using a Nokia 6820 with O2 in the UK - a GSM 900MHz network. O2
and Vodafone in the UK are both 900 networks, and both sell the Nokia 6820.

Yes, as does the 6820 sold here in Australia, but the OP bought it in the
USA and that version has 850MHz instead of 900MHz.

Does this mean I have no chance to getting it working here in NZ??
