YES! All mobile phones MUST be approved by ACA & have a A-Tick label.

Uh huh, so every foreign traveler who gets off the plane at Kingsford Smith
with a phone in their pocket has to head over to ACA and spend $100,000 on
certification or go to jail?

Just make sure that it is a GSM phone and covers at least 900/1800Mhz.
Ignore that post stating that it requires approval and an A-Tick label. GSM
phones imported for personal use do not require any approval or labels.
