Nokia tells me, their 6600 supports SAP? Anybody know if that is true?

SAP stands for SIM access profile. It's used by some carkits to
retrieve data from your SIM card. It needs this data to act as though
it's your mobile phone.

No it doesn't support SAP.

Does that mean I can not use my 6600 with a carkit that has an external
antenne?

Is this a hardware, firmware or software problem?
(in other words: what would need to be upgraded to make the 6600 support
SAP. This is just a question to understand why the 6600 doesn't support
SAP, and to get an impression of how hard it would be to add SAP
support. I am not planning to do this myself or ask somebody to do it
for me.)

Its part of the firmware in the phone. Your phone does not support SAP,
and I have never seen any nokia upgrades to enable SAP. If the phone
doesn't have it then it never will have it.
If you have a CARK-616 kit you can still use the 6600, it will use the
BT handfree profile instead. I have one and its great, so long as your
phone has BT it will work with the 616. | | | |

I'm not that enthousiastic about the 616, although that's only from
looking at it. Do you know if the Parrot CK-3100 or the LinTech 1422
would be a good/better alternative? You can find information about the
LinTech 1422 on this site www.lintech.de in both german and english.
