boosting signal via car kit?

Is it possible to boost the signal to a mobile ( 7250i) using a car kit?
Im in a location where signal is rubbish, if im standing at my front door i
get full reception, if im standing at the back door i get 1 or 0 bars. is it
possible to rig up an old car kit to boost the signal effectivly from the
front of the house to the back?

Any help is much appriciated!

If you have an external antenna connected to the car kit it will
certainly improve your reception, however the phone will have to sit in
the cradle of the car kit rather than you walking around the house.
