Hi, I want to buy a GSM phone off of Ebay for T-Mobile. I will use the
pay as you go features. I asked about this in the store and they said
that it would cost me $30 to make is usable. Is this true? I mean is
there a way I can get a used phone and NOT pay $30 just to make it so I
can buy minutes on the prepaid plan?

Is that $30 for a "sim card"? Whatever that is...

Yes. $30 for the SIM card and stert-up airtime.

Or you can walk into Target and get a Nokia 6010 with SIM card and air
    time for $39.95

SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module. Sure it might be a bit of a
pain having to pay for the card but the great thing about GSM phones is
that say my friend has a flat battery on his phone and needs to make a
call I simply remove the SIM from my phone and hand it to him. He then
inserts his SIM into my phone and makes the call, it will be on his bill
and NOT mine! He will receive his calls while his SIM card is in my phone.

And then I can just buy minutes on T-Mobile? Without going into a
T-Mobile store? How do I get the phone number? Thanks everyone.
