I know there have been previous posts praising Opera Mini, but a month's use
confirms that it really is a very neat, well sorted and useful little
program.

The tiny, fast app is just a client that is served by Opera's proxy. Not
only does the remote server strip out the cr*p so that full HTML pages
render (more or less) correctly, but this process also saves Mbs and
therefore data charges, in some cases up to 90%.

And, despite the tiny screen it is usable for the kind of interactive stuff
people expect to do on the move. Popular sites like eBay, airline
reservations, banking etc. all work fine - which they would never do in a
WAP browser. And intensive use of keyboard shortcuts makes most functions
available with just a # and a single key.

It makes you wonder what extra the so called "smart" phones really offer,
when you can do all this with a workhorse device like the 6230 (or i). And
of course any other Java enabled phone of which it is said there are 700m
worldwide.

And the best bit is, it's free from www.opera.com.

Enjoy. And no, I don't work for them.
