Hi,
I currently have a faithful CARK-91 installed for my 6310i, I have
upgraded my phone to a 7610 and would like to install a CK-7W into my
Ford Focus with a 6006 cd changer.
I have read in a number of posts that the power leads need to a bit of
work as the CARK 91 has a six pin power plug, and the CK-7W has a four
pin plug.
Will I be able to use the existing connection to the Car Stereo as I do
not have the tool to remove it (If I have to remove the car stereo
where would I get the tool or is there an easy way to pull it out.)
To charge the phone I intend to use the existing power cable and change
it to a connection matching the nokia power connection, then just use a
universal cradle to hold the phone in place.
A last thing I would like to be able to do is to run the audio through
the car stereo speakers, as the Focus has a lot of cabin noise,
especially in the footwell where my existing speaker is located.
Any experiences and hints would be greatly appreciated
TIA

The way I've done similar jobs is to use bullet connectors. Disconnect the
battery first (!) and cut each individual wire in a place where you can
get at it and crimp bullet connectors on the ends that are staying in
place, i.e. to the battery and stereo etc. Then crimp new connectors on
the power lead of the new car kit and plug it straight in.

Any car accessory shop will have the tools, it's a pair of U shaped bits
of metal that you poke into the holes at each side and then pull the unit
out. Although if you do what I said above you shouldn't need to, as the
wires to the stereo are still in place.

Hmm, does the phone take 12V straight into the bottom connector..?! I
smell smoke..! I'm not 100% certain but I'm sure I've seen cradles that
have a power connection for charging, but unless you're on the phone
morning noon and night won't the battery last for a day's journeys..?

Not sure on this one, sorry. I think it depends on the stereo unit, check
with Ford.
Slightly OT but on the subject of Ford car stereos, does anyone have any
idea why my 6000 (single CD unit) has stopped receiving FM..? I thought at
first the aerial connector had fallen out but it hasn't and MW/LW stations
come through fine.

Have a nose at siocommunications.co.uk, there is a forum there and the guy
that runs it (he's an installer is very helpful). If you live in his
coverage for installs (Central Scotland) then he is a brilliant installer.
