I don't know anything about ALLTEL (although I wish I had the option for
12 month contracts in Australia!). But the best Nokia phone for you may
well be different to anyone else.
What do you want out of a phone? You have already stated you are note
interested in the camera, but what about Internet access, Bluetooth? Do
you just want a basic phone or do you want to numerous applications on
your phone? If you want these additional applications you may want to
look at a Nokia Series 60 Symbian otherwise if it is just a basic phone
you will probably want to look at the Nokia Series 40 phones.
Have a look at http://www.nokia.com/ and check out the different models
and what they can do. Then approach ALLTEL and ask them about the
models that interest you.
I just had a quick look at ALLTEL's website and it appears they operate
a CDMA network, so unfortunately that will limit your selection somewhat.

The Nokia 6256i is an excellent phone. Good reception, great audio, very
sturdy. Excellent display. Very pleased with it, and I was a diehard
Motorola user prior to this phone.
