In my experience, settings sent to the phone over the air are "read-only":
once you receive and accept them, you can't edit or delete them. In your
situation, you will probably have to activate another set and then edit it
manually.
I've seen something before about a method to delete these "read-only"
settings. I don't remember the exact command and I've never tried it
myself, but I think I read that entering something like #delset# (#335738#)
will do the trick at least on some phones.

Hi folks - I'm having a 6230 problem that I'm hoping you can help me with.
Some background; my 6810 completely died, no response at all. Battery is
good, as it works in another phone, so I gave up on it and my friend gave me
an old 6230 to replace it. So I downloaded the 6230 user guide, and it leads
me to believe I'm missing a menu option.
Specifically:
Menu => Messages => Message settings => Multimedia msgs => Connection
Settings => Edit Active Multimedia Settings
I don't have this option. Under settings I have "Active multimedia
settings" twice, the first one allows you to activate a set, and the second
one allows a read-only view of the settings in the active set. But the
option to edit the settings is not there. I have received a settings set
directly to my phone from my provider and activated it, but it doesn't seem
to have worked as not all the settings were updated correctly, so they've
given me the settings to apply manually.
Now my
sim card works ok in the phone, I can make/receive calls/sms txt no
probs, which leads me to think the phone is not locked, though I admit I
don't know much about this. Is it possible that the previous owner (my
friend's sister) had a menu option disabled by her provider? Or does it
sound like I need a firmware update, and if so, how do I go about getting
one?
thanks for any help you can offer,
owenm.
