I got a Tracfone Nokia 2126 last week at WM in Burlington VT, my home
area. It works fine within the US. Now I'm visiting my brother in
Canada for a week, and from Canada, I can't dial a canadian number!
There is a message "Check call restrictions". I can call a US number
fine. When I go into the Call Restriction settings, all I get is the
"All Calls" with the empty checkbox.

So it seems that Tracfone would have either programmed (out of my
reach) call restrictions, or had them hardcoded by Nokia?

BTW I have an old 6160 Tracfone, and that one works well within Canada,
which leads me to believe that the restriction is not at the canadian
provider, otherwise it would reject my old phone as well, I think. And,
my 2126 lets me call a US number from Canada.

Any idea on how to disable these hidden call restrictions?

Have you tried calling customer support? It sounds like some sort of
network barring in place on that account.
