Got some weeks the 6680
I have the feeling that battery charge life is not as long as I was
expecting. I don't talk much over phone.
Don't make use of office applications.
I have to charge every 2-3 days.
I was expecting about at least double the time.
Yes I do use TomTom Mobile, but do use a car-charger during use.
(Without I guess in a couple of hours the battery is empty looking at
the power signs ).
Some experiance?
How to check the firmware?

Hi Leon,
I get about the same battery life from my 6680 in normal use. If I just
leave it turned on and don't use it at all the battery will last for 4 days.
Using TomTom without the charger kills the battery in about 6 hours ...
I know; been there .. done that :-)
The battery in my GPS receiver is the same as the phone so if push comes
to shove I simply use the GPS one in the phone until I get the chance to
charge again.

Upgrading the software (firmware), does it change the basic "Vodafone"
look of the screen, and is the language changing?
My mothertongue is Dutch (out of Holland), and want to use the same
"Dutch" desktop.

Well, did got some extra information from Nokia helpdesk, I want to
share with other users.
To check the firmware version, press: * # 0000 #
V 5.04.07
15-02-06
RM-36
Nokia 6680
Seems I got already the latest firmware:
But, using UTMS or GSM network is a big difference for using power.
UTMS battery power consumption "talking" 2 - 3 hours
GSM battery power consumption "talking" 3 - 6 hours
Areas with less good receiving signal. The phone is switching from UTMS
to GSM alternately. Alternately switching take a much more high power
consumption.
Only "standby", the battery has to last 6-11 days
Firmware upgrade:
In spite firmware upgrade shall make a check which version to use
(Vodafone desktop etc. or general desktop) automatically, the best
garantee you get the proper firmware / language etc. is to go (or send)
to a local Nokia Service Point.

There is a trick to expand the power life.
(Talked to Nokia support).
Do read my other message in the thread.

That was quite interesting. Will have to see how it goes, but as my
phone practically lives in the hands-free charger it's not really a
problem for me.
