The new S60 3rd edition is built on top of Symbian OS 9.1 which was a major
binary break due to the introduction of Platform Security concept. There is
absolutely no way to make old (pre-PlatSec) apps work on the new platform
(starting from the very different installer). I should know, I worked at
Symbian until recently :-) There will be no more binary breaks in the
foreseeable future (or so Symbian claims).
