    Hi all,

I have to share my extremely bad experience with all of you who are
thinking of buying any nokia phones.

I bought a N73 2 months ago and as most of you know, the phone has a
bug with the bluetooth GPS connection, which needs a firmware update to
    correct the problem.

I brought my phone to the "Old Street Nokia repair centre" in London to
have it updated. The stupid woman told me that it will take 1 hour. I
left my phone there, 3 hours later, they told me that the firmware
updae has failed because they have used the wrong cable.

Okay... that's rediculous, but, more to come...

I moaned a bit but let them send it back to nokia to have it fixed. She
said that it can take up to 2 weeks!!! but normally be back in 2-3
days. I trusted her, waited and waited. Nothing is returned until today
    - 3 weeks from the day I took it for the update.

I was so annoyed about the wait and I have asked that stupid lady to
make sure nokia update the firmware for me before they return it,
otherwise, i have waited for 3 weeks for nothing!!!

I phoned her twice to remind her, and she said she has asked. Then,
this morning, she said to me, oh sorry, the phone was not updated, what
    do i wanna do?

She said that she prefers not to update it because she messed it up
last time. I thought... what the .... How crap is that repair shop and
how crap is nokia!!!! I have written to nokia about the incident and
complain about the quality of their repair centre, Nokia replies and
said that the shop has followed the correct procedure and nothing can
    be done!!!

My advice to everyone is... DO NOT BUY FROM NOKIA, they only want your
money and don't give a sh...

Sorry to hear about your experience. This should not have happened to you
but I just wanted to say that most of this would likely not change for
another phone brand. This is typical equally if you are servicing your car,
in most cases, you may have a Mercedes, perhaps a Ferrari would gain better
service, don't know if there would be any equivalence on cell phones.

The first service centre most likely was not owned by Nokia, very likely
neither the second one. Of course one would hope Nokia looking after the
service at their service points but it seems to be equally difficult as for
Mercedes (poor service hurts both equally, they must try, hopefully their
best, cannot understand why it still fails).

You have every right to complain, if people would not, things would soon get
worse. My advice would still not be "to change the cell phone brand" on this
    basis.

UK people, on car forums, and now here. No matter the brand. My Nokia
service guys RULE! Totally friendly and helpfull. They did their best and
gave me advices how to improve my ussage.

Ever thought of upgrading your own phone at home? Of course, at your own
risk. Just download the Updater software from Nokia UK website. Connect
your phone using the right cable which I think is included in the
package. Follow the steps carefully and it will be updated in one or two
hours depending on your Internet connection. I upgraded mine flawlessly
and I am 'happy' with my Nokia 6680 phone even though it is still
    sluggish and bulky!
