unlocked cellphone

I bought a Nokia cellphone on the street. And this cellphone was made for
the same network to which I belong. And the cellphone works great.

Can I assume that it is unlocked to all other networks?

No, you can't just assume that, you need to try a SIM-card from anotehr
network, first if that works, then you can start assuming.

You are correct.
I did that today with a SIM-card from another network and I know that it is
still locked. I've been trying to unlock it myself using NokiaFREE Unlock
Codes Calculator v3.10 without success.
The cellphone that I'm trying to unlock is Nokia 3220.

Model: Nokia (DCT4 )
IMEI: 356660005282455
USA
T-Mobile

I would appreciate all the help that I can get.

Considering you bought it on the street I could assume it was *stolen*,
I can also assume if this is the case T-Mobile would be more than happy
to check their records and I can also assume if it is stolen they will
be more than happy to render the phone totally useless on their network!

Asume what you want, it was a brand new in the box phone. And I am going to
get it unlocked eventually whether smartasses like you help me or not.

Just how many times did you try entering a code that didn't work? I can't
quite remember but you may only get 3 or 5 attempts before the 'phone is
permanently locked and your plans, to be blunt, are knackered.

The application I'm using says I have 5 attempts. However, I didn't get any
response after each attempt such as "code error", so I don't know if these
attempts were counted.

Isn't an attempt counted when it generates a "code error" or "phone
restricted"?

Previously I bought 3 such cell-phones from a seller in eBay who claimed
that the cell-phones were unlocked. And since I have only one SIM card from
T-Mobile, I immediately knew that the phones were locked. The seller was
astounded that all 3 were locked.

Before I returned the 3 phones, I tried to unlock them using the free
applications, and being a novice at this I failed and I still don't know if
I generated the correct codes. But on those 3 phones I got a response and I
knew how many attempts were made.

My first problem was deciding between DCT4 or DCT3 & Asic 2 or Asic 6.
I stuck to the default of the application which were DCT4 and Asic 2.

I discovered that my 3220 is actually 3220b.
This generated different codes than the ones the I originally got.
It also required to input the codes while the SIM card is in, not removed.
