#1 | | Guest | Hi,
I am trying to update the firmware on my 6630 - was locked to the 3
network, now unlocked and used on O2.
Current version on the phone is V 4.03.18 04-03-05 RM-1
As I understand it, there is newer firmware around that this but the
nokia software updater says that my phone is up to date.
What am I doing wrong?
Cheers

NSU works based on the original product code (ie. 3 firmware). That is
the latest version available to your phone, as 3 did not get any further
updates. | | | |

That's not true. I have one of the oldest 6630 around and was able to
upgrade from 1.x. to the newest version available (6.03). The problem is
that the OP has a branded version, with a special firmware which only
allows upgrades to updated versions of that firmware. Best thing is to
visit the Nokia Service Center.

No, it isn't and anyway I replied to BT News, so it's of no moment anyway.

NSU works based on original product code ... thats true.
3 network did not get the latest 6.03 firmware .... thats true.
As squelch41 has a phone on the 3 network he can not update his phone
with NSU ... So what exactly did you not understand that makes any of my
original untrue ? | | | |

Yes, you can use another piece of software to fool it. However it is not
foolproof and you could end up with a bricked phone.
Have a look here if you want to investigate some more : http://forum2.mobile-review.com//sho...&postcount=432

Yes it is.

Nope, you replied to squelch41. As he/she pointed out, specific operators
do not always get the latest firmware.
