    Hello,

Inside the microSD flash memory, and SD flash memory, there is a bit, that
once programmed, the data inside the chip becomes write-protected, and
permanent. I searched for a tool that can program this bit, but I did not
find any. Do you know of such a tool? Or driver? Or Software? Any
thought on this will help me. Thank you very much.

    Best Regards,
    T.I.

Under XP, I am able to set files to read-only on hard-disk drives, but files
on flash memory have no check box for read-only. If you know something that
I do not know about this, please tell me. Thank you.

The card is FAT. Can SD and microSD be formatted differently? I did not
format the card, I got it and plugged it into a card reader that attaches to
the PC through USB. This card reader is from Patriot. But I am thinking
now even if I can set the attributes, would that keep the host device, like
MP3 player and cell phone, from erasing the data? I do not know if they
look at these attribute bits. And I do not know if these devices can read
from other than FAT. Please let me know. Thanks.
