#1 | | Guest | Hi guys,
I'm a bit new to the combination in subject so the question might sound dumb ... sorry
:-)
So, does the phone have the software and the maps preinstalled, or do I have to
buy/install them?

C.

The software comes pre-installed.
The maps are downloadable free of charge from the Nokia web site and
can be loaded with Nokia's Maploader software. If you don't pre-load
the map for the area you are in, the software will download the
appropriate sections of the map "over the air" once the GPS has got a
fix on your location.

Is it possible to use other software/maps than the ones provided by Nokia?
Where can I see the list of maps available?

You might try the Nokia map loader to see which areas are covered. But that
isn't really needed, they have maps for just about anywhere possible, they
use Navteq and Tele-Atlas at their best (might change to Navteq in the

If they are using Navteq, I'm sure Croatia is covered ... I was in the project when
they were updating the maps.
Thanx both,

There are a few alternatives around.
My favourite is Google Maps, which uses the N95 internal GPS to
determine your location and then displays an aerial/satellite image of
that area. In fact I probably use Google Maps more often because
Nokia's maps of my area are of such poor quality.

There is only one product "wayfinder" that I know of. Like all OS map
products, it is expensive.
