    I've updated, but if anything I find the new release less stable than
    previous ones. I have a particular problem with sending and receiving
    SMS messages which I never had before.

    After installing it and connecting to my Nokia N70, it sees my phone
    unlike previous version. I am still having problems in opening the SMS
    inbox though; MMS messages never seem to show

    Had no problems in sending SMS from the laptop via the phone though;
    I prefer to use my operators' website to send SMS; one of my operators
    provided a toolbox for use with IE to send SMS from the laptop; IIRC the
    software provider was Telemessage

    If you want to manage your SMS easily from PC you may try Symbian SMS
    Manager or Oxygen Phone Manager II for Symbian OS phones.
    The detailed information is available here: www.oxygensoftware.com
