I totally agree, some people think they do us a favor
by telling us about alll the other brands and offers.
I have two phones, a sony ericsson and now a Nokia N95
And info on the Nokia I was hoping to get here, and info
on the sony ericsson I get elswhere.
And if you tell that you are not interested in their junk you
get a flamewar.

Agreed;
It'd be nice if things were on-topic but...

The flameware /is/ the point for those posters so, I'd recommend
filtering. If you need any pointers, I ain't no pro but I've eliminated
most of the rabble from my screen.

The iPhone fanbois on attws think it's funny to add every cellular
newsgroup to ever reply to field. I've tried, since I noticed this, to
eliminate crossposting, but occasionally fail to do so.

You sound like one of those wasting our time, so I guess the 1st filter
will be your address!

I use Thunderbird as my newsreader too and, as you prolly already know,
it barely filters by name. In short, no, I don't use a method to do
this. There *is* a freeware add-on (a proxy) called nfilter that a lot
of people rave about.

Hopefully TB 3.0 will do something with filters! Yes, I've heard of
nfilter and I'll soon look into it -- many are using it to avoid Google
Groups. Refer to this page:
