    Hi,

I recently bought a "Nokia 3500 Classic" cell phone.
This phone has a micro-usb connector, but comes by default with no usb
    cable.

I already have a compatible, at least fitting, micro-usb cable that I'm
using to fill and charge my Creative Zen Microphoto mp3 player. Can I
use this cable to communicate with my cell phone, or is this a bad idea
because it will or might harm the phone because of its output voltage?

I already found this cable, which also charges devices via usb (I
suppose technically comparable to my cable):

    Thanks in advance,

Provided it is a standard connector then there should be no problem.
Standard USB has a clear specification for power and devices that deviate
from the spec *should* use non-standard connectors and are not allowed to
use the USB logo. The connector should mate with very little force.
