Nokia 8390 faceplate convrsion to 9810i

I want to convert a Nokia 8390 to 8910i look-alike. Are there any
negative side effects? Does IR suffer in anyway and how about desktop
charging with new faceplate? Does the auto-slide work well with
converted phone?
