My contract on my service will be up soon and Im
wanting to upgrade to a new cell phone.

I currently have the one piece Nokia 6360....and altho
I like it OK.... I HATE the green display!! Very hard
to read. Most of the new phones have BRIGHT colored
LCD displays now days and that's what I want.

However.... some questions.... what abt the flip style
phones? Many of the new Sanyo and Samsung phones are
of the flip style. Is this a hassle to flip and un
flip them every time you use them? Is it also a
    potential mechanical weak point?

Also.... what abt the phones with picture taking
features..... or Palm features? Worth having or just
    more to go wrong?

And advice or thoughts or opinions? What do YOU have?

Yes, newer phones, especially Nokias, generally now have a bright white
display, which is much easier to read than the old green ones.

I once had an Ericsson with a flip, and it broke. I wouldn't buy a phone
with a flip again, not because it broke, but because it is a little
    annoying.

To be honest, I think that picture taking features is just a gimmick.
However, some people may like it, but I didn't bother.

I have a Nokia 6100 here in the UK, and I really like it. It's small, light,
and has a lot of features. It's lack of memory is perhaps its weak point,
but it doesn't bother me too much.

Explain how you feel its annoying ok?

Do you find it just a general hassle to fold and un
-fold the phone to use it?

It may sound silly, but it always just feels a bit like hard work to have to
flip the cover every time you want to use it. Come to think of it, I have a
7110 too and that became a bit of a nuisance. It is just easier to have
direct access to the keypad, I feel.

Pretty much. Others may like a flip, but personally I find it more hassle
than it's worth. Flip mechanisms always loosen up too (which is only
natural) but this annoys me too!

    Ok ..... point taken.

But my current phone is a one piece design..... and I
have to lock out the keypad when not in use to prevent
accidental dialing. Hence..... it also becomes a hassle
to have to push two buttons in a row to lock/unlock the
keypad... every time I want to use it.

Im not dis-agreeing with you..... just thinking "out
    loud" I guess. lol

Haven't Nokia just thought of everything? The 6100 (along with a host of
other new Nokias) feature an "Automatic Keyguard" feature whereby the keypad
can be locked automatically after a set period of inactivity.

Yeah, and 5 years ago my Ericsson did that. Took long enough for nokia to catch
    on.

I don't think my Nokia 6360 has the auto key guard
    feature.

Ive looked all thru its settings and cant find it
    anywhere.
