How can I get Nokia PC Suite 5.1 to see that I have an IR device installed?
The connection manager keeps giving me 'no such interface supported', and
then offers NO options to select regarding connections!
Please help.

Re: Nokia PC Suite...
Works for me. I am using a Belkin USB - IrDa adaptor and the latest version
of PC Suite.
Does Widows detect the 7210 is an IrDa device when the phone is near the
adaptor?
If not have you enabled the IrDa interface on the phone?

Re: Nokia PC Suite...
Have you enabled the IR port on the phone it is off by default and it eats
the batteries when it is on!!
If your IR interface is OK on the PC and you Bring an IR enabled device
(phone) within range/sight windows (XP) will pop up a dialogue saying that
it has deteced an IR device. You need to get that working first.
I use a Belkin USB-IR adaptor and have no problems with my 7210 and PC Suite
5.1

Re: Nokia PC Suite...
I am having the same trouble with a 6200 - wrote to Nokia support and
got the following response:
...."PC Suite is configured to work with internal, infrared devices.
While it may be compatible with some external IR devices as well, in
others a reliable connection may be difficult to establish or maintain
successfully.
If you are using compatible devices, the internal baud rate on the
other device may be set too fast to communicate with your mobile
phone. You may need to change the infrared settings in your computer,
by switching from fast infrared (FIR) to slow infrared (SIR).
Selecting a particular baud rate, no higher than 57.6 K, in the
properties of the device may also improve communication. "
can someone explain what this means? what is an 'internal infrared
device'? The PC has an internal device but it has to connect to
something else (obviously external)...what am I missing here?
THANKS

Re: Nokia PC Suite...
Maybe they mean built into the system MB - obviously the IR Tx/Rx wil have
to "external" on the outside of the case as opposed to a plug in device
USB-IrDa adaptor etc.

Re: Nokia PC Suite...
I was having the same problem until I changed the connection speed. Once I
changed the speed from 400mbps to 9.6mbps the Nokia Connection Manager was
able to see the phone. To change the connection speed Right click on My
Computer and click on the Properties your IR port.
