You can make a backup of the address book with the Nokia PC Suite, but I
don't know any free way to restore that without the same application.
There is, however, a shareware application called Contacts Manager that will
do the trick:

One way I know, but I would also like to know if there is other ways.
Go to Contacts. Options/Mark_all. Send_business_card via Email. Either
really send the email, or then just save the unfinished email to Drafts by
choosing "Close" when it asks you who to send it to. Note, it will take
quite awhile, like few minutes, to create the email attachment(s) if you have
lots of contacts, so be patient.
Find the unsent email folders by FExplorer from C:\system\Mail on the phone and
send them to your PC via Bluetooth. They are stored there in *.vcf
files. The folder you should copy to your PC, is probably the first
folder under C:\system\Mail\
I don't know if FExplorer is able to send a whole folder via Bluetooth so
if your Email is working, its probably the easiest way to get them to
your PC.
This way you end up with a text files of VCARD format, which is very
much human readable.
This task also would be so much easier, if Nokia would support sending
messages (SMS, MMS, Emails) via Bluetooth and IR straight from the Messages
application. Nowadays for example from Drafts, SMSes can only be sent as SMS,
MMSs only as MMS and Emails only by email via GSM-network.

Look again.
Given that you are using a version of windows outlook is installed by
default.
If in doubt it can be downloaded free from Microsoft.
Further, its usually part of the installation suite on those free CD's you
get when you sign up with an ISP.

Wise move. Also he may have deleted his whole MS-Windows and uses Linux.
Even smarter move.
It is abit amasing, Nokia does little support for Linux and supports
MS-Windows proprietory applications only. Then on the other side it
talks about open standards and protocols. Talk is cheap.

No outlook express is, but it has to be outlook. Outlook comes a part of the
office suite or as a stand alone buying program.

Well they have an sdk for linux, but that is not because they are some sweet
guys who love free software, but because it is a smart move since lots of
developers use linux.
