Righto dude, good to hear you got it fixed - I didn't realise XP offered
speeds that high otherwise I would've also suggested that fix.
In future though, can you trim and not top-post, please? You seem like a

Personally I find that 115,000 can be a bit fast for my 8310 so I
lower it again to 56,000.

It's nothing to do with XP - the Fast IrDA standard allows for a max
transfer rate of 4 megabits per second - too high for most mobile phones,
which prefer a more sedate 115,200bps.
