Well, this is a sorry tale indeed!
Last year I purchased (Yep! its not a cracked copy!) OPM2, and used it
to manage my 7110. All this time I reported bugs & improvements to Oxygen,
as well as flaming the lamers who wanted cracks.

I recently dragged myself into the new age! My 7110 was showing its years,
and I'm now the proud owner of a dinky little 8310!
(I even purchased a IrDA adapter for my PC!)

So now its time to load up the old phonebook, So I fire up my copy of OPM2
and apply for a new key, removing the old 7110 & adding the 8310.
(for those of you fortunate enough not to have OPM2, the application is
    locked
to an IMEI number, to prevent fradulent copying of the program)

I recieved an e-mail back - My OPM2 software licence has "expired"
What this means is that, after paying Oxygen for the product, I can no
    longer use it
without handing over more money. No mention was ever made of this on their
    website.
(If it was, I would never have purchased! after all, who keeps the same
    mobile phone their
    whole lives?)

Several e-mails have passed back & forwards to no avail. Oxygen refuse to
    allow me to use
the software I have purchased, insisting that I purchase a new license. What
    a ripoff!

So, ladies & gentlemen, a warning for you all. Don't purchase Oxygen
    software. They will
rip you off. Maybe not today, but in a years time, when you change your
    phone.

Funny, I don't have the same trouble with Logomanager!

Nicely warned, I was just gonna shell out for this after trying the demo
out. I think I'll hold off on it after your comments and try something else
    instead.

    Quick whining...

So you bought a new phone and thought that the software (which was purchased
for the old phone) would still work...

I just bought a Mac and my PC software will not work on it, should I start
    ranting also?

well that's a typical crap response. why would anyone expect PC software to
    work on a MAC??..

    dumbass

BUT...if you simply bought a new PC then you would expect to be able to
install your existing PC software onto the new one wouldn't you??

going from one nokia to another I wold certainly expect my software to still
work seeing as how it is marketed as a tool for NOKIA phones and not as a
tool for "only one nokia phone"

I look forward to Oxygen's reply

    There are more issues:

I have had problems with thew software putting back a full backup.
Reorted it several times, ran special debug fersion which made
reports. Now with the latest version (I use the prgm from the
beginning) it finally works. Then they announced a new update: I
    cannot get it, licence.

I feel like s misused betatester.

Yes, they offered me a free new key, but I refused: people that cannot
tell such things in advance are not to be trusted.

    Re: Don't buy Oxygen Software!

I think a more appropriate analogy would be that you bought Crystal
Reports to print reports, and when you buy a new printer, Crystal
Reports stops working until you pay.

Or alternatively you buy Nero to burn CDs, and when you upgrade your
CD writer Nero stops working until you pay.

Or you upgrade your CRT display to a nice flat screen, and your video
card refuses to work until you pay.

Or when you upgrade your PC motherboard Windows refuses to work any
    more until you pay.

If Oxygen ties their phone manager to a particular phone exclusively
and in perpetuity, they should say so up front. If they wish to do
this, that is their privilege, but should tell you before you buy. It
does seem an odd way to do things - I would have thought they would be
better linking their software to a single IMEI number, and letting you
somehow update the single IMEI number in the package they sell you.

That way you can only ever use a single phone concurrently.

    Just my $0.02 worth.

One thing that has struck me in this is that Oxygen have failed to comment
when normally they are on the ball
with comments about how good they are !

    Re: Don't buy Oxygen Software!

IIRC the Oxygen software originally supported adding new phones by sending
the new IMEI to them. Just to 'cut down' on piracy.

I had similar problems but it was more a case of them never replying with
the new code. They just simply wouldn't honour the agreement they made!

So, since then I've learned to live without their software and luckily Nokia
have upgraded their software to allow me to do what I want for free.
